i just booked a stay at new york city for christmas. last time i was in new york i was 18, i got a tattoo and i had absolutely no need of sleep. this time around it will be an entirely different experience, and most importantly under different circumstances. i know more now and i like different things. i have evolved a little bit since then. i can already feel the good times rolling
do you watch porn?
i'm a closet lindsey lohan fan. i know what a corrupted and awful person she must be but i can't help but love her at the same time. i'm still waiting for a movie of hers i see that will blow my mind (ahem) but it's possible, just like kristen stewart surprised me in the runaways. lindsey is soon about to portray a porn star, linda lovelace of the 'deep throat' fame from the 70's. who knows, this role is probably better suited for her then anything else so she may yet be able to do a good job. who knows if it will even finish production. i will wait till the movie comes out to judge, but knowing my love for shit movies i will probably end up buying the dvd as well, lol. for now here are some movie posters shot by tyler shields (who by the way by the looks of it is trying to imitate terry... not cool especially when you look like you still sit by the mirror popping zits)
what a horrendously disastrous class it was last night. ok so maybe im exaggerating a little bit but i came out with not loving any of my drawings. we were drawing a male and he loved himself so much, which is actually funny because i always expected the models to walk around and at least look at what the people drew of them, but the women never do, they seldom even talk to the class, and john, well he started taking photos of everyone's drawings and just sat through the whole time butt naked with his crotch hanging around like we were all weird for wearing clothes at all, talking to everyone. he was a great model, when i finally got a drawing started that i liked the teacher f-ing tells us to switch with the person across the room from us (so we can see from another perspective and learn how to correct our work etc etc.) F!!!! my partner not only destroyed my drawing (far right) with her dark and hard lines but she also started her drawing in the same manner that she 'corrected' mine (all she did was go over the lines i already made and made them ugly) so whatever corrections i made were hard to even see. he told us that the exercise usually results in some great drawings but let me tell you was he ever wrong. he says not to treat our drawings as if they were precious, which seems to be a consensus amongst these art teachers, but guess what you guys! *urgh* my drawings ARE precious to me, and i only get to draw for 3 hours every week and i don't pay $300+ to walk away with nothing.

summer is here and this means tv i love to watch, later this summer look for the rachel zoe project, airing on bravo tv. of course i am tv handicapped, not owning one (cable not a set) and i get to watch it online, trouble is that the rachel zoe project is hard as hell to find. in the end it's worth the search. here are some photos terry took of rachel and her assistant brad, just saying 'hey america, we are shirtless and we are giving you the finger(s)', no doubt these will serve as publicity for the upcoming season (the finished product not the blog).
John James P. I
on monday we shot a lookbook for john james jewellery, i did a quick creative shoot with wilkosz and way back in february with their stuff so when they asked me if i was interested to shoot their lookbook i didn't even think about it, the artist is erin ignacio and her pieces are amazing, they are big and bold and unique (as in every piece is one of a kind). makeup was done by the ever so great and talented alicja wilkosz. everyone was great and we managed to do three looks and 24 necklaces within 6 hours. everyone has already blogged about the shoot, but what's interesting is the origin of the brand's name and the idea behind it. i have not known this but john james audubon was an artist, a naturalist and an ornithologist (ie branch of zoology that concerns the study of birds) in the 19th century. when erin went to school to become a graphic designer she was inspired by him and incorporated elements from his drawings into her own work. what she is doing with this jewellery is amazing, i'm inspired by her ability to create such elaborate pieces as well as by the background that she chose for her brand, she isn't just making these necklaces to make money, she lives and breathes her work. look for her designs being featured in the upcoming issue of flare magazine.

OMG genius! Ting Ting mentioned at work the other day something about tomato having negative calories (at first i thought she meant calories that are bad for you, but in reality it's foods that contain so little energy that you burn more calories eating it then what it contributes to your daily intake). i thought until now that celery was the only food that did that (yuk!) so clearly i did not follow into a habit of just eating celery, instead i went on my daily routine as usual. hmmm turns OUT that there are much more vegetables and fruit that contain negative calories. there is enough on this list to take me through the whole summer (except the papaya, cause that also makes your boobs grow :S ) WOO!! and for any one of you who is also struggling with this dieting business (you know who you are, and we'll definitely talk about this everyday for the next month or so :) ) here's another idea to try out. i guess if you snack on these foods enough to sustain you throughout the day you can actually loose some weight. i don't think it should be a substitute for exercise and healthy eating, but damn this IS healthy eating :D apparently meat is hard to digest so you should only have it early in the day, and never eat anything past 6 o'clock, lot's of sleep is also important because that's when you body burns a lot of calories too, so finally a reason to sleep in
Aidan (from Australia) sent this to me this morning. i love it, i mean he not only removed the chair from underneath but he fixed the shadow to match, amazing. thanks you ;)
i decided i will take french speaking class. i want to learn it so that one day i can really live in paris, not just in my head. so that i can listen to french music and watch french films and wear black all the time and maybe even smoke a cigarette while i'm eating a baguette. my dad's reaction: why the hell do you need to speak french, learn how to speak spanish... dad clearly doesn't understand

i do not live in mission or beltline, or aywhere close, and even though i have a LOT of junk to get rid of on monthly basis i will not be able to participate in the sales, but i will be there to hopefully find new junk, and who knows what kind of great stuff i'll be able to find. people get rid of the strangest things sometimes. what they say is true, one person's garbage is another person's treasure.
Compulsive hoarding (or pathological hoarding or disposophobia[1]) is the excessive acquisition of possessions (and failure to use or discard them), even if the items are worthless, hazardous, or unsanitary. Compulsive hoarding impairs mobility and interferes with basic activities, including cooking, cleaning, showering, and sleeping. A person who engages in compulsive hoarding is commonly said to be a "pack rat," in reference to that animal's characteristic hoarding.
i went through a phase in my youth (ahem ahem) where i was obsessed with vinyl records. of course that was when i had a piggy bank still and i could only afford the 20 or so that are in my 'collection' today. i remember i exchanged all of my crappy britney spearks/n'sync cds for one copy of the cream 'wheels of fire', it was shiny and it was silver and i was judging by the cover alone, but there was also the great time when i got the beatles 'sargent pepper lonely hearts club band' special edition marble record, it cost me $100 and i split it with my dad, and it is and will remain one of my proudest acquisitions. the inner sleeve in mardaloop is having a what looks like all you can carry vinyl sale, i stumbled upon it yesterday in fast forward magazine, and if i can find the time to get away from my excrutiatingly painfull time with the tax act i will go and check it out, it's worth to at least see what they have, maybe i can buy 20 more for mere pennies. i have yet to get the whole madonna collection. fingers crossed.
meanwhile, in this poor excuse of a city... which reminds me a little bit of the dark ages right about now, especially after writing the previous post. we can't even get the original work from muse d'orsey like vancouer is getting, we are getting a knock off exhibit of PRINTS, and while it's great that we have something at all, it shames me that i can't brag about going to all the other great things i can only read about and watch on the internet. i will go to see these... prints but i am only doing it because i hope that one day we are going to get something spectacular and worthy.
the king of pop
after my visit to new york city in 2004 i brought back this andy warhol pop-box, its full of fun random and inspiring pictures and objects. I was cleaning out my bookshelves yesterday making some room for new books and i opened it up and i found there was a free admission to the andy warhol musem in pittsburg, i was bummed out, however when i saw that it expired on december 31 2005 :( since pittsburg is kind of out of my way no matter how i look at it i would probably have never gone anyways, but at least i could have had that option, now my dreams have been crushed. i WILL, however, make my way to pittsburg one time or another (perhaps when visiting freinds in toronto) to see the museum. just like i will one day visit milan just to go see the leonardo da vinci museum there. warhol is one of my favorite artists, i love the bold colors and statements that he makes. calgary needs a visiting exhibition of warhol's work, no more of that inuit crap and dancing sandstone bears please.
speaking of pop art, the national gallery of cananda in toronto is having an exhibit entitled 'pop life: art in a meterial world' it runs from june 11 to september 19 2010, it features artists like andy warhol, jeff koons (it is my dream to see n person one of his baloon animals) and takashi murakami, who helped design the famous multi colored louis vuitton bags with marc jacobs, bringing louis vuitton to become popular amongst the younger crowds around the world. so if you are lucky to be there during that time you should go check it out and tell me how it was. i'll be jelaous.
i came home to discover a red strawberry growing on my newly purchased strawberry bush. i was so excited... so i ate it and it was sweet and delicious and all around perfection (including the shape-i mean look at it, it looks like a strawberry that you would draw, a stereotypical strawberry if you will) :) it looks like, however, that i am shaping up to be quite the gardner, the orchid that lost its last flower around a year ago is starting to bloom again, and i was ready to throw it out, but my patience and determination won out and i will have a blooming orchid quite soon once again (and all for the price of one)
finally today was a great class. even though i thought in the beginning that the model will start pulling off some yoga poses (she even brought her yoga mat and exercise balls) i came out with some drawinsg i really liked. then i brought them home and charlie bit the face off one of them, but not before i took a picture.
