pulp magazine

a few weeks ago i had the pleasure of working with the great team from pulp magazine, even though it wasn't for the mag it was one of the best jobs ever (see rita tesolin post). if you haven't checked it out yet go flip through pulp online here. i love love all their ideas and the design and of course the fashion. one day i want to start my own magazine, that's the dream.

bellissima for japan

i have been working with bellissima for quite some time, both modeling and blogging for the company. i just want to say right off the bat that this is in no way a paid post nor is it in any way affiliated with bellissima. i am doing this on my own, knowing that it's ultimately for a good cause, trying to spread the word. they have recently pitched a facebook initiative to help raise money for japanese disaster relief. it has gotten mixed responses (more so from one person in particular, who shall for the time being remain unnamed). in a grand scheme of things this is a great opportunity to raise some money for the relief efforts and all you have to do is click your mouse, many people will not donate money themselves so this is a great way to give everyone that extra push and/or incentive to take part. to whoever says that this is a cheap way of advertising i say this: bellissima is a small western canadian brand who is trying to find itself in a saturated market of clothing retailers, they want to reach out to their audience, yes donating money is a self-less act, but they could use $3,000 for actual advertising,  instead they are giving it to doctors without borders, they could also not even bother with any of this in the first place and i think until you donate $3,000 to a charity and stay quiet about it (or refuse your tax write off) i don't think that it's anyones' place to judge or criticize the way these guys are going around it, so shouldn't YOU feel guilty for having an opportunity to pitch in and knowing you didn't? who's the bad guy now? on that cheery note, please help out and let's all make this one count. love you all. xoxo

p.s. park is also working on helping japan. we did a photo shoot for the event invites last night, i wish i had some behind the scenes shots to show you. it was one of the funnest shoots. you will get to see the results very shortly as the event is just around the corner.

i was watching jimmy kimmel live and jake gyllenhaal was talking about the graffiti artist bansky, and something about him getting a very hard to find bansky print. whatever, the point is that this inspired me to go take photos by or very own bansky-esque wall in inglewood. of course contrary to bansky's work this one is not spray painted. it's actually a piece of paper glued onto a wall, how it stayed up all this time, through our awfully long winters and snow storms is anyone's guess, it's kind of lame really. but here we are, all inspired. i was waiting for the weather to get warmer to take photos of this outfit, i am sure you can guess why that is, but to hell with it, if i was waiting for spring to actually come i'd be waiting till next year. so since this is the first time i heard of this artist (shame on me?) you all get to experiance this discovery with me. so the rumor has it (as per jake gyllenhaal) that bansky puts up about 300 prints every year on his site up for grabs, for free. you better believe that i will be sitting at my computer now refreshing his site until i get one myself. can you imagine how much a print like that would sell for, if it's indeed so rare. i sure hope ebay is wrong, because i just looked it up and  you can get one for $17.99, clearly must not be an original, and definately unsigned. pff! nothing but the best for me. i shall keep you updated about my hunt for bansky. until then keep your fingers crossed. for more bansky visit his website: http://www.banksy.co.uk/. xoxo

remember this? after many sleepless nights and drama that is life i finally have the finished product to show you. for those who are wondering, and better yet, for those who are reaching for their 3d glasses (remember they have to be the real deal aka. one lens red one lens blue) just a word of warning that this might not actually live up to your 3d expectations. as a result i am supposed to be referring to these as 'effects' but hey, this is a learning curve, next thing you know we'll be producing these 3d photos like they are going out of style. speaking of which, i haven't seen a 3d shoot in a magazine in a while... umm yea, like it's going out of style. fyi that doesn't make it any less cool and overall spectacular. xoxo

march 21: first day of spring

(zara top & tights, urban outfitters skirt, arnold churgin boots, alexander wang bag)
i got so excited when finally we had a full weekend of dry weather. not nice just dry, which is already a huge step up from what's been happening. but of course my joy, as always was very premature. i am sitting at my dining room table overlooking another snow storm through the window. even though this is, theoretically the first day of spring, no such luck for us. it still beats the constantly rainy weather i encountered in toronto in the last week but seriously i'm uber annoyed. yes! i said uber. in the next couple of weeks we will have some great fashion events happening in the city. fashion has no borders with host jeanne beker is essentially one of those exhibition deals with booths set up of different retailers/services with a couple of events scheduled throughout the day including image consultations and makeovers, i believe there is also a fashion show, as to the details i can not say, perhaps a little more info is in order, seeing as this is a FASHION event. you can get more information about fashion has no borders here. the second, a little closer to my heart is fabricated, where a group of my greatly talented fashion conscious friends got together to put on this event in mid april showcasing some of calgary's great design talent and bringing together people from the industry. together with park it really looks like something is actually starting to happen around here. i am very excited to see where all this takes us.  as always there is always looking forward to trunk shows and promo events at holt renfrew. be sure to come on march 26th for a special accessory packed weekend. details and photos to come.

Anzie

so i really want to tell you what happened at this year's holt renfrew fashionata event, but i am still hoping i can get some kind of video or footage to make everything that much more visual for you. for now i have these photos from the event i did the day after. anzie jewelry out of montreal did a personal apperance at the store and offered customization of some of their work. these jobs are always great to do because 1. it's quite an education experience, discovering many brands i would otherwise might not have known and 2. the clohtes, or jewlery in this case are to die for and it's probably my only opportunity to wear it. on top of not being big on jewlery to begin with this gives me an opportunity to play dress up so to speak and be more girly for a change. with scars from the previous night i must say it was not easy standing in my heels all day but most definitely worth it. anzie and her daughter joanna were such great company and of course jen and katrina from sophia models are always a pleasure to work with. visit the anzie jewlery website for more info on the brand. hope you have a great weekend! xoxo

...i am obsessed with magazines. when i finally got my bearings after coming back from toronto my first shopping destination was the magazine store. those of you who live in calgary know it can sometimes be difficult getting the good mags but there are definitely two stores (at least which i know of) that try to make this experience easier for us all. one of them is with the times on 11th st and the other, the one i most frequent, is the daily globe on 17th avenue. my brother introduced me to it once long ago, when i was still in high school as a place where i could find all the magazines for my tear sheets, as time went on i fell in love with numero and id and many other titles. i stopped buying every issue and now only purchase the ones that i really love, because boy can it get expensive. anyways we thought we might as well kill two birds with one stone and take some photos while we're at it, and running into some old friends in the process. david jonathan who i shot with for his web based project, ox with the beautiful olga onulov, was just stopping by to browse, i wanted to know if he still shoots and found out that he is in need of some inspiration, and knowing how hard that can be around this neck of the woods i am determined to get him back on the horse, after all it would be a real shame if he stopped what he is so good at (plus you don't want the $10,000 camera going to waste now do you?). which magazine did i get? i bought the new issue of interview magazine with amanda seyfried on the cover. best value for your money i think. as to the details and goings on of my day to day life, well i have to tell you i have been going trough some crasy s#!* in the past couple of days, one incident involving falling to my knees at a fashion show and lots and lots of blood, but you will have to wait for that post before i tell you the whole story. for now you can check out more photos from our day at the magazine shop on my facebook. xoxo

p.s. all this linking just reminded me how great david's pictures are. loving all the images. check out his website here. maybe i can start a facebook petition.
