i have walked the streets of calgary for a good part of the summer. maybe until i got my new car (with the new car smell and everything it's hard to walk places right now) but i have had a very difficult time finding well dressed people just out and about at odd (or regular) hours of the day. after shooting garrett i realized i will have to look harder. stylish people all have jobs it seems, they don't have time to wander around hoping for a blogger to notice them. this isn't new york. so i started looking for them everywhere else. i saw shelby working the fitting room at aritzia. the first thing that got my eye was the pixie haircut. of course something i always wanted but would never be able to pull off. shockingly, belive it or not, it is harder to pursuade a stranger to agree to take photos for your blog than it seems. shelby is also an acad student, majoring in sculpture, which is perfect because i am obsessed with that school (i have an acad inspired project in the works for aniab.net). to view more of shelby's work visit http://surrealismissexy.tumblr.com/. xoxo
tuesday
still recovering from the weekend. having mini heart attacks thinking of all the amazing designer pieces i want in my closet as a consequence of what i've seen in the past 3 days. not sure what is more of concern, the hit to my wallet or the fact i will own them. park show on friday, boutique hopping on saturday and amazing creatives on sunday. followed by crazy drama on monday. of course a good weekend is nothing without the post traumatic stress. bought these nail polishes at uo, i still can not do my nails if my life depended on it but the colors looked so nice together i totally succumbed to the consumer marketing, last minute purchases at checkout, damn free market economy. also found pulp magazine in print, the issue is absolutely stunning <3.
tyler: charlotte dance-fighting
what a couple weeks it has been! on both a personal and professional level the last few weeks have been inspiring and crazy busy, however, is there ever NOT time to relax and listen to a bit of music? i write on the timing of inspiration. when i hear something that i absolutely must share i bring it right here, and that can be a good or a bad thing. some weeks i’ll be waiting on the perfect tune, but this week i was hit with several and all at once! it was hard to choose just one thing to show to you guys but I knew after the last few beauty tunes i wanted to get something a little more up tempo and rough around the edges. plus, you can always catch my eye with an interesting video. anyways, down to business! a song/video you all must check out is charlotte gainsbourg with her beck-produced track 'terrible angels'. if i had heard the song before i knew it was her i certainly wouldn’t have guessed it. charlotte is the daughter of the outstanding serge gainsbourg and jane birkin (who recorded an album together in 1968, which i highly recommend hearing) and while she is usually distinct in her own way, this song shows off her fathers flair for crossing genres. “terrible angels,” unlike anything else she has done, is danceable and a little distorted, and surprisingly straightforward. it’s not the greatest thing you’re likely to hear (and not every song out there can be), but it’s someone well established taking a step in a different direction and doing it well, and i will ALWAYS give time to that. plus the video is fun, if not a little wacky. check it out!parkluxe. winter garden in jamieson place. 08.26.11

i am always up for a fashion event, even better when it's right here at home. holt renfrew calgary put on a personal appearance and cocktail reception with paige denim, the la based brand drawing its name from the founder, paige adams-geller, who after years of modelling translated her love of clothes into an amazing denim brand. the turnout was great and the verdugo scarlet jean flew off the shelves, not to mention how personable paige herself was with everyone in attendance. the sophia team was on hand to support the beautiful talent showing off the goods. my favourite paige pair? the edgemont skinny. xoxo

two in a row, i know, i know. i am really stepping out of my comfort zone. i am in a completely black and white mood. i just got some posts ready and they are all going to be lacking colour, get ready for a monochromatic week. together with this mood i am also not feeling accessories lately either, or any kind of embellishments, what you see is what you see. it's a good thing then that i just spent most of my trip to san francisco hunting for some one of a kind jewellery. i did spend the past week getting some really amazing things lined up for the blog, and dare i say i am more than ever excited to post. everything will be rolling in at the same time i am sure, i hope you can bare with me during the less exciting portion of the program. right now i am trying to decide whether the weekend after labor day i should be flying to la or new york. it could be worse. xoxo

when i get photos ready for posting everything looks better in black and white. now that i am back home i have a million and one things to catch up on, it's also been a pretty fantastic month work wise, both modelling and boring full time gig. today i had an amazing fitting with lauren bagliore, turns out we have our own alexander wang/helmut lang in the city. it was amazing, i left short of breath, that's how fast my mind was trying to figure out how to start saving for all the amazing things she makes. there is a full post coming next week, we are shooting the lookbook on sunday and i'll be sure to document everything. as great as this week has been i am still sad to be back home, after every trip i plot a move to another city in my head, it all works out fantastic as a movie script but maybe not so much in real life. san francisco has bumped new york on my list of favourite us cities (la being the first <3), it's exactly as i have imagined it to be, perfectly between the two. though the wind and the hills would make it hard for me to dream of it as a potential home, anything in california seems to be good enough for me. we were there right for the outside lands festival, sans actual tickets, but a walk through golden gate park still provided for a glimpse of all the hipsters and drug addicts attending the shows. and i have never in my life seen so many drugs and people on drugs as i have in san francisco. it seems to be quite the liberal place, apparently the only place where you can walk around main street smoking a joint, ironically that adds to its appeal. for a big city it sure feels like a small place. i was kind of nervous to take photos of people, feeling like it was something they probably met with on daily basis, turns out there isn't many bloggers in the city and i would have gotten away with it scott free. i missed a perfect picture moment at a bus stop on our way to the park one day, when i saw the same people walking past us the next day in a different neighbourhood i didn't hesitate, though not as perfect of a moment, they sure were, and all models <3 i love myself those models so that worked out great. not till after i realized that i didn't even get their names, so my beautiful friends if you should stumble upon this post feel free to strike up a conversation. xoxo
ps. did i mention losing my in-and-out virginity? it really is everything they say it is.
