christmas day

t.babaton top, zara vest, helmut lang jeans, aldo wedges, david yurman & aldo rings, michael kors bag

am a little behind with posting. these were taken on christmas day. the streets were deserted and we've had no snow almost all month of december... the word had it that it was supposed to be the coldest winter (*knock on wood*), things change, i know first hand. which works great in every respect anyway. tomorrow is already the 31st. what a year it's been. i would like to not dwell in the past, however, and focus on things to come. i am most looking forward to some long awaited rest. i feel like i could sleep for days. i surrendered my holt renfrew discount card today (for the better good of the wallet, unfortunate for the economy). back to the mall for this one starting 2012. somehow i doubt i'll have difficulty finding things to obsess over. i also have had some requests to increase the size of my font, so i apologize to those who have been struggling to read my text, i feel it's a very image based blog to begin with but of course am more than thrilled that people actually care what i have to say. so thank you so much every single one of you for a great year, i would not be doing this if not for the readers (and viewers). by the way has anyone heard of nico robin? i was told today that she would be my anime doppelganger. somehow i find it very flattering to be compared to a cartoon (it could be worse, but then again i could also be sailor saturn <3). xoxo

hot off the polish press

i am in actual awe of polish fashion magazines. it's always good to see great things coming out of your motherland. my parents just got back from a trip to szczecin and brought me back some goodies, amongst them was k mag and fashion, another great one, which i completely forgot to mention to them is viva! moda. safe to say it will be quite difficult for me to find these around here, but if you ever stumble upon them at the magazine store give me a shout. anyone know of an easy way to subscribe to these? i guess that is always an option worth exploring. xoxo

it finally happened. my day off, two days, now back to work during the holidays, before my vacation. it's been a messed up year, i will be looking forward to new year's eve and never so glad as to celebrate. i have been keeping these photos of matt for an appropriate moment and i think the time is now. as always looking especially dapper. i have also now concluded by epic adventure at holt renfrew, will be sure not to go back for any more stuff. cleaned my closet again and will be getting ready for another park sale whenever that may be, keep your eyes and ears peeled, as well,  for the announcement of the upcoming park show. now back to packing for the desert. xoxo

smashbox x sephora

clockwise from left to right: hazel eyes photo op eye enhancing palette, photo finish hydrating foundation primer, camera ready bb cream, layer lash primer, fusion soft lights all over colour & halo highlighting wand in pearl

i have had a love for smashbox ever since their o-glow tint came out (and since i realized my agency in la, photogenics was a part of the big smashbox family), tomorrow (boxing day) they are launching their new bb cream exclusively at sephora, canada wide. bb stands for blemish balm or blemish base and has originally been used by dermatologists to help refine post surgery skin. it has gained popularity in asia to provide natural looking skin-coverage and has finally been approved for commercial use in canada. on the occasion that i do wear makeup some of my favourite smashbox products already include the halo highlighting wand and the fusion soft lights powder that i apply as bronzer and blush. when smashbox contacted me to spread the word about the launch i was more than happy to participate. check it out and merry christmas. it was a weird one this year for me. definitely not complaining about the lack of gifts that's for sure. more on that later. xoxo

all i need is some sunshine

club monaco hat, h&m skirt, zara leather jacket, top shop boots, vince tank, guess by marciano scarf

just a couple of random, unrelated thoughts: this may be the first time where every piece that i am wearing is from a different place. complete work overload. i am so excited to have a day off. january 3rd i am off to la, so will have nothing but time to take photos and update posts. i have some exciting creative projects happening before i go and a million and one things on my mind. sometimes i wish i could share with you all the aspects of my personal life, if anyone is ever looking for some soap opera material you now know where to look. my friend aidan got into some illustrating and made this for me for the post. pretty good if i may say so myself. i will try to engage him more often. i am so glad to be surrounded by all these wonderful people, if there is ever a good time to be grateful, christmas would be it. it's such a funny time of the year, so many things are ending and so many are just finding their beginning. every year i go through the same thought process, it seems, but every year i forget about the past, too focused on things to come, this year i never want things to end. there is something in the air, i'm not the only one who can feel it. on that ominous note... xoxo

fur sensibility

i'm just in the midst of editing a load of photos, i actually don't mind having the dilemma of having so much material that i don't know what to post first. it's been an amazing last couple of days and it looks like i am busy still up till at least the end of january, at which point i will be getting busy again with work. depending on the weather an outfit post is sure to come after the weekend, so for now i am posting these polaroids we took in the studio hallway, they are not exactly how i originally envisioned them in my head when i was thinking up the idea but the medium is so amazing i don't think it can ever look bad. i have also been overly fixated with furs after seeing my dream fox asymmetrical bibhu coat. just a couple of kids hanging out in their faux fur coats and cowboy boots dreaming of california <3... and of course thanks jay. love you! xoxo

tyler: the girl with the dragon tattoo

the last couple of years have been pretty interesting for trent reznor. rising to some level of fame for his project nine inch nails, reznor found success in an industrial formula through the 90’s, which moved to a more electronic focus during the last decade. in 2009, he put nine inch nails on the backburner and decided to shift his attention to other things, and what came of that shift in artistic direction was the phenomenal score for the movie ‘the social network’. i’m in the camp that thinks the movie was good but that the soundtrack was the one thing pushing it to great. trent reznor (along with atticus ross) won an oscar for the score, and rightfully so, but it was what they might do next that seemed to generate the most interest. that question was answered quite a while ago, and now we finally have the finished product of their collaboration, the score to the american remake of ‘the girl with the dragon tattoo’. it’s not too often that i’ll sit here and talk about how great the score to a movie is, but sometimes they are so essential to the feeling and internal ‘beat’ of a film that they need to stand on their own. i remember watching ‘badlands’ for the first time and realizing just how important background noise could be in a film. this soundtrack continues that trend. i haven’t seen the film yet, so hey, maybe i'm wrong? but if the soundtrack is of any indication (as it was with the social network) it will surely take whatever the director has produced and elevate it to the next level of greatness. check out the trailer below, backed by a cover of ‘immigrant song’ featuring karen o - straight off the soundtrack.

h&m x trish summerville

i am obsessed with this collection for h&m coming out for 'the girl with the dragon tattoo', it is completely on trend and it's designed with help from trish summerville who is also the costume designer for the movie, it's only available at the toronto and vancouver stores, perhaps another day trip is in order. i need that burgundy jacket! to die! stay tuned. did you see rooney mara's cut for the premier of the movie in london? click here to see the photos, reminds me of a certain stylish polak i know (looking at you marta wilkosz <3) LOVE! xoxo

shoe obsessed

just scrolling through nastygal.com, i want all of these. currently saving myself for a pair of ksubi and/or alexander wang s/s 2012 boots, however, or an amazing fox fur coat. if money was only not an issue *sigh*

carmen

zara jacket, h&m top and jeans, clarks shoes
burberry coat and riding boots, h&m top and black jeans
zara jacket, club monaco long sleeve, vintage bag and scarf, h&m jeans, dr.martens boots

one of my favourite people to photograph. carmen totally gets everything, the clothes, the posing, she's just cool without trying and she doesn't even know it. five gold stars! forgive me for not having much to say today, i have been getting an average of four hours of sleep per day and trying to keep my composure. who ever enjoys christmas time anymore must be a very lucky person (or a child). still trying to say yes to everything, right now it's watching machete. this will be my first time seeing lindsey naked outside of just jared so i count this as a pretty happening monday night. xoxo
