here’s one that has been around for a while, but i first heard them back in september when i was in ireland and still can’t get them out of my head. purity ring is a collaboration between edmontonian megan james (vocals and such) and ex-gobble gobble member corin roddick (bleeps and stuff). purity ring has been making some very catchy and very popular “future pop” tunes for a little over a year now and while they have only released three whole songs to date, they assure everyone a full album is coming very soon. while they are busy assuring the album’s future existence i can assure everyone that when it does exist, it’s going to be something pretty darn special. one of those three great tracks sits below for your enjoyment.
fashion week bust
fashion month so far has been such a bust for me, apart from helmut lang i have not seen anything that caught my eye in the slightest. even the usual suspects disappointed. alexander wang was boxy and stiff and watching the live stream of prada didn't exactly inspire me either, not that prada ever has that effect on me to begin with BUT there was just nothing. i feel the only advantage of being left out of the invitation lists for the fashion week shows is the ability to speak your mind without limitations. so here i am > most boring fashion week EVER, and fall for god's sake! tsk tsk. the one collection that blew them all out of the water for me, mostly because usually it doesn't, was topshop unique. let's also remember that i am speaking here strictly from my personal point of view and taste level. i am sizing up these clothes as if i could actually afford and wear them... so topshop you won my heart, i love nearly every single piece from this collection. we have yet to see paris, and givenchy has been giving me heart palpitations for the last couple of seasons so it's possible still i will be changing my mind. for now this is the verdict. cheers and have a good rest of the weekend. xoxo
update 20.02.12

busy week & minimal posts. i have been asked to participate in the upcoming chinook centre style off on march 16th, that coming up i should start thinking up ideas of what i would like to do with my model, wouldn't mind seeing my model before hand also. should be an interesting day. found out today that the marni for h&m collection will be launching in calgary (mark march 8th on your calendars people!), making immediate plans to line up early that morning to get first dibs. less exclusive, not many people will understand it, i can already tell. i am trying to look for more inspiration but have been actually busy resting if that can be a thing. i don't feel bad for it either. it has been the best weekend and next is a big one, so i should bottle up the feeling i am currently experiencing. remember to listen to the bee gees once a day and remember to breathe. xoxo

trying to catch myself up with some work, school and everything in between. i feel bad i have been away from my class for the last two weeks, but life happened. never complaining. just have to stay motivated and do everything on my own time. hope you like julia's photos. i'd kill for her face <3 she is in her last year at acad and has a couple of shows coming up toward the end of this semester. i will be posting more info as it comes. i have to say i really don't mind surrounding myself with all these creative people, if anyone can inspire you to see the world in a different way... well i'm just thankful i get to participate.
get ready!
for those who will be at their computers for 5 eastern time (3 mountain standard time), i will be working BUT, if you haven't seen the helmut lang collection that just went down the runway last night... well thank god fall is back, finally i'll be able to covet something again, let the saving begin.
blog obsessed: the living breathing street
calgary? is that you? as to the exact details of the existance of this blog i am not sure. i did however find it, and i know that the photos on thelivingbreathingstreet.com are the product of a local photographer (ruzz?) who i have never met. while the blog itself could use some cleaning up, the photos are beautiful, somehow they transform calgary into a city full of life and fair size, through their energy. i want to be able to take photos like these, it seems like the resources never run out. be sure to check it out, add it to your favorites and like his facebook page, let's keep the man motivated to take more. xoxo

superfine s/s 2012
nothing sells clothes to me better than some nudity. superfine does it so well too, if you remember last season's lookbook with irina, here i thought it couldn't look any cooler. andrej might be getting a little stale but i still dream of his platinum blonde hair and boy's body *sigh* on another cheery note i have been recently listening to some more mellow music for what my taste usually allows and have been imagining myself as a poet living in a paris attic somewhere overlooking the siene, the way d'artagnan lived when he first arrived in the city to become a musketeer... i'm sick of reality. images courtesy of fashiongonerogue.com
nrt: drop dead
a great event, as usual for nrt and tomi mustapic, if last years' show was exciting, this time around surpassed everyone's expectations. loved the design and the branding for the show at sociale. drop dead also marked the official launch of the nrt online store and website. check it out at www.nrtfashions.com. for more photos visit my facebook page. xoxo
tyler: zebra katz
here’s a spooky awesome video for you folks. zebra katz (real name ojay morgan) just released the single ‘ima read’ and it’s about as minimalistic as hip-hop gets. outside of zebra katz, morgan is a pretty talented guy. not only is he making music by himself, but he also does it in a group called house of ladosha, as well as doing performance art, polaroid photography, and being the director and founder of the school of go go art collective. morgan is obviously talented, and part of the sudden trend of people making hip-hop as art (and not just hip-hop about money & sexy ladies!). check him out now and enjoy while you can, because i promise this guy is blowin’ up.
on now

last chance to get your hands on jalu's fw'11 and holiday '11 collection. all samples are 50% off and can be purchased on their website www.jalu.ca. If you are in or around the calgary, ab area and would like to schedule a fitting appointment please contact them at info@jalu.ca
